Dear loved ones,

I would like to start out this letter with some worship and thanks giving. God is the most wonderfully fantastic, loving, compassionate dad I’ve ever known. I continue to be amazed by his willingness to keep picking me up out of my sin and walking with me again. He blesses us so much and I am continually reminded of our desperate need for His grace in our lives.

A few weeks past we were able to serve the pastors on a couples retreat here in Palacios, and it was so much fun. It was planting time for a lot of the Misquit pastors so only one older couple was able to come but they ended up having some young couples that were leaders in the church come with them. I think this turned out for the better; the young couples seemed eager to learn and asked many questions. Sometimes it’s harder to get the older religious people talking, they always try to give the right answer rather than admitting to some of their struggles (don’t we all). We started the weekend out with two rules. Number one: take one thing from this weekend that you can apply to your family or marriage. A lot of times we learn ten things and apply none of them. Number two: relax and have a good time. Frank had some discussions ready and Tami had lots of goodies, snacks, and wonderful meals lined up for them. Rebecca and I were honored to get to help. We watched the movie Courageous and they loved it. I was surprised how much they laughed and cried. It seemed like they really enjoyed the weekend and were looking forward to applying what they had learned.

In May we’ll have three interns working with us until the end of the year. I’m really excited about that. We hope with the extra help that we all will have more time to reach out to the community. Also I’ll be helping Frank with the Bible school he’s opening next month. I’ll be taking the guys up river to do outreach with them. The plan is for the guys to be working and encouraging in areas where the church is not as strong.

I’m working three or four times a week with Mario and Alan, two youth God has blessed me with to disciple. Mario is sharing sometimes in youth and learning to lead worship in the church. Alan is doing the same and seems to want God but the world’s distractions are fighting mightily against his desire to seek God. Please pray that they will learn to be desperate for God daily and to learn to confess their sins and struggles more openly with leaders.

One of our interns shared a message the other day and it’s been ringing in my head. To make a long message short, it is God’s grace that gives us the power to do anything good and if we’re lacking in an area we don’t need to try harder, but beg more for the increase of grace in that area. So I’ve been begging God daily for an intense desire for his word and for the lost. I feel God is granting my request and bringing many opportunities to invest the love he’s given me. So my request to you my readers is to just beg God. Ask and don’t stop asking until you receive the faith, love, or joy you need to be a radical Christian.

I love you guys and am honored that you’d take time listen to me,

Nathan.
